The opportunity

We’re on the lookout for an exceptional Marketing Associate – someone who’s eager to learn and grow through a unique internship opportunity. Our ideal candidate is an enthusiastic people-person, a strategic thinker who is proactive and organized, and a keen collaborator ready to unleash their communications expertise to help our team level up!

Based out of Winnipeg with travel to communities around the lake, this 6-month internship runs from December 2025 to May 2026. This full-time term position is 32 hours per week with a wage of $30/hour.

LWF offers a reduced workweek, paid time off between Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, and a flexible hybrid work environment.

Your impact

Reporting directly to our executive director and working collaboratively across our staff team, you will:

  • Leverage your strategic insight to increase the impact and reach of LWF communications while maintaining brand voice and visual identify
  • Lead content creation for LWF’s newly designed website, increasing traffic and maximizing engagement
  • Produce a monthly e-newsletter to engage and activate LWF’s membership community
  • Pitch, write, edit and review content for LWF’s annual reports, newsletters, press releases, donor communications, and advocacy campaigns
  • Collaborate to plan and deliver engaging events for LWF members and volunteers
  • Identify new outreach opportunities and audiences around Lake Winnipeg
  • Support the development of high-level tools and strategies to accelerate LWF’s growth and recruit new members
  • Incorporate a strong commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion into all that you do

Your qualifications

  • You hold a degree or diploma in creative communications, marketing, public relations, media, or a related field.
  • You’ve had some on-the-job marketing experience and now you’re ready for new challenges.
  • You’re a creative collaborator, enthusiastic about new people and new ideas.
  • You have honed your exceptional writing skills to develop impactful, accessible and brand-aligned content.
  • You have some media and/or public relations experience and know how to pitch a good story.
  • Your strategic mindset makes you a strong critical thinker with sound judgment.
  • You’ve got a keen attention to detail and a commitment to excellence in all you do.
  • You’re excited to keep learning and ready to develop your leadership capacity.
