Opportunity to speak with Minister Moyes

On Monday, September 15, River Heights MLA Mike Moroz is hosting a town hall with Minister of Environment Mike Moyes.

Date: September 15, 2025
Time: 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.
Location: St. George’s Anglican Church, 168 Wilton Street

The evening’s theme is climate and sustainability – and we know that climate change is exacerbating algae blooms on Lake Winnipeg. As increasingly severe floods carry more phosphorus to Lake Winnipeg, and warmer water increases algae growth, we must act quickly to protect our lake.

This town hall meeting is an important opportunity to raise concerns about the North End Water Pollution Control Centre (NEWPCC), the largest source of phosphorus pollution to Lake Winnipeg.

Chemical phosphorus reduction can be used to achieve the provincial limit of 1 mg/L today, yet enforcement has been delayed while the province promotes a $1.5-billion project that will not reduce phosphorus in the near term.

If you attend, consider asking:

  • When will the province enforce the 1 mg/L phosphorus limit at NEWPCC?
  • Why is immediate phosphorus action being delayed when proven solutions are available now?

This event is open to all; no registration is required.
