Are you a full-time student looking for summer work before returning to school in the fall? We’re seeking an enthusiastic, organized and community-minded student to be our Summer Outreach Coordinator!

Based out of Winnipeg with some travel to various Lake Winnipeg communities, this full-time term position is 40 hours per week, $18.40/hour, from May 8 - Aug. 25, 2023, and will require some evening and weekend work.

What is Walk for Water?  

 

Walk for Water is a grassroots fundraising walk in support of a healthy Lake Winnipeg. These family-friendly, pledged walks take place each year in various lakeside communities.  

 

How long has Walk for Water been happening?  

 

The first Walk for Water event took place in 2007 in Matlock. Other lakeside communities began organizing their own walks soon after. In 2022, one Walk for Water is taking place in Victoria Beach.  

 

Do I need to pre-register?  

 

No. If you plan to walk in the event, simply arrive at the designated check-in time and volunteers will assist you then. If you...

Our signature fundraiser returns! For years, Walk for Water has been an opportunity for friends and families to be part of the solution for Lake Winnipeg – and a fun way to spend a day at the lake! LWF is following all public health regulations to optimize the safety of all participants and will adapt planned activities as needed. New for 2021, our VB event will start outside at the Village Green Stage.

The arrival of COVID-19 in Manitoba has caused many changes to our daily lives. We want to ensure all potential applicants have the time they need to shift plans, make decisions, and prioritize actions that will help protect their health and the health of those around them.

For this reason, the deadline for applications for both positions has been extended until end of day, Friday, April 3.

Alex Martin is a 19-year-old kayaker, local to Victoria Beach. Last summer, Alex paddled solo around the entire shoreline of Lake Winnipeg to raise awareness for water stewardship.

Presented by the Victoria Beach Walk for Water Committee, this evening event is your opportunity to hear from Alex about his adventure, enjoy his photo presentation captured from the remote coastlines of Lake Winnipeg, and learn how this experience has shaped his view of this important lake.
