Classically trained guitarist and luthier Fred Casey returns for another season of summer concerts at the Whytewold Emporium!

In what has now become an annual tradition, Fred donates all money raised through these busker-style “Playing for the Lake” gigs to LWF.

This year’s concert schedule is as follows:

  • May 12 (Mother’s Day), 11 am to 2 pm
  • May 31, 6 pm to 9 pm
  • June 21, 6 pm to 9 pm
  • July 26, 6 pm to 9 pm
  • August 16, 6 pm to 9 pm

Join us in Gimli on Sunday, June 30, for the Save the Lake Fish Fry!

Organized by the Gimli Yacht Club and the Kiwanis Club of Gimli & District, this family-friendly fundraising event features education, fun and food – all in support of a healthy Lake Winnipeg.

When: June 30 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Where: Outside* the Gimli Yacht Club (Gimli Harbour; 95 1st Ave)

All proceeds raised will be donated to the Lake Winnipeg Foundation and the Lake Winnipeg Research Consortium (LWRC).

On World Water Day, the Lake Winnipeg Foundation and the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) are releasing a report recommending an interim retrofit to Winnipeg’s largest sewage treatment plant. This retrofit could be implemented quickly and at low cost to significantly reduce the facility’s phosphorus contribution to Lake Winnipeg.
