What is Walk for Water?  

 

Walk for Water is a grassroots fundraising walk in support of a healthy Lake Winnipeg. These family-friendly, pledged walks take place each year in various lakeside communities.  

 

How long has Walk for Water been happening?  

 

The first Walk for Water event took place in 2007 in Matlock. Other lakeside communities began organizing their own walks soon after. In 2022, one Walk for Water is taking place in Victoria Beach.  

 

Do I need to pre-register?  

 

No. If you plan to walk in the event, simply arrive at the designated check-in time and volunteers will assist you then. If you...

What is Bike to the Beach? 

Bike to the Beach is an annual fundraising group bike ride from Winnipeg to Lake Winnipeg’s Victoria Beach in support of LWF. 

 

Do I need to pre-register to participate in the ride? 

You will be considered registered once you’ve (1) set up your personal fundraising page on the CanadaHelps Bike to the Beach 2022 online campaign page and (2) signed all required waivers. *Please note, we are continuing to limit the number of participating riders. All participants must first be approved by organizers.*

Important reminder to all LWF members: voting on AGM business will take place online in advance of the AGM, between April 20 and May 16.

All LWF members in good standing have the right to vote; the 2022 AGM agenda and all other materials, as well as a link to the online voting platform, are presented below.

Our signature fundraiser returns! For years, Walk for Water has been an opportunity for friends and families to be part of the solution for Lake Winnipeg – and a fun way to spend a day at the lake! LWF is following all public health regulations to optimize the safety of all participants and will adapt planned activities as needed. New for 2021, our VB event will start outside at the Village Green Stage.

We love connecting with LWF members and supporters throughout the summer – but safety comes first. As we move forward with planning for the 2021 season, we are closely monitoring public health updates and regulations, and are prepared to adapt all activities as needed.
