Building on the record-breaking success of 2020’s Founders’ Ride, a group of cyclists will once again challenge themselves to pedal from Winnipeg to Victoria Beach in support of a healthy Lake Winnipeg!
We were overwhelmed by the outpouring of encouragement and community spirit last year and are excited to build on that momentum in advance of this year’s fundraising ride. We hope you can join us in supporting these determined cyclists in their efforts!

Our signature fundraiser returns! For years, Walk for Water has been an opportunity for friends and families to be part of the solution for Lake Winnipeg – and a fun way to spend a day at the lake! LWF is following all public health regulations to optimize the safety of all participants and will adapt planned activities as needed. New for 2021, our VB event will start outside at the Village Green Stage.

We love connecting with LWF members and supporters throughout the summer – but safety comes first. As we move forward with planning for the 2021 season, we are closely monitoring public health updates and regulations, and are prepared to adapt all activities as needed. We’ll be sharing updates on our website and social media. Check back often to keep informed on the latest plans!
Subject to change, here are some of the events currently scheduled for this summer:
Sunday, June 27: Save the Lake – LWF will be taking part in this community fundraiser hosted by the Gimli Yacht Club and the Kiwanis...
Join the Lake Winnipeg Foundation and the Lake Winnipeg Indigenous Collective for a World Water Day webinar! We’ll be discussing our collaborative position paper, Five Things the Federal Government Must Do for Lake Winnipeg, and how we can meaningfully address Canada’s freshwater challenges. This is an opportunity for lake-lovers to learn more about the practical steps needed to protect our shared waters!
Summer looks a little different for everyone this year. To keep each other safe, our annual Walk for Water events won’t be happening. We’re going to miss seeing everyone, but we’ve got some exciting new initiatives taking place!
Here’s a look at what’s happening – and how you can get involved from the comfort of your own home:
Support a healthy Lake Winnipeg with your favourite summer activity! Love to bake? Passionate about running? Keen to clean up your community? All this and more can be turned into a fundraiser …for Lake Winnipeg!
Turn your special talents and unique skills into freshwater solutions. Get inspired with these ideas – then get involved! Whatever activity floats your boat, remember to observe your regional public health guidlines for travelling, physical distancing, sanitizing, and small group activities.
If you've picked a fundraising idea, and want us to help promote it, tell us about it and we can add it to our events calendar!
