Alex Martin

We’re excited to be taking part in a not-to-be-missed event!

Alex Martin is a 19-year-old kayaker, local to Victoria Beach. Last summer, Alex paddled solo around the entire shoreline of Lake Winnipeg to raise awareness for water stewardship.

Presented by the Victoria Beach Walk for Water Committee, this evening event is your opportunity to hear from Alex about his adventure, enjoy his photo presentation captured from the remote coastlines of Lake Winnipeg, and learn how this experience has shaped his view of this important lake.

When: Wednesday, July 24, 7 p.m. (doors open at 6:30 p.m.)

Join us in cheering on Alex Martin as he begins his 1,750 km trip along Lake Winnipeg’s shoreline. This passionate, 18-year-old kayaker is spending two months of his summer paddling to promote water stewardship and the recreational merit of the lake.

Alex’s launch will take place at Grand Marais Point, in Grand Beach Provincial Park – all are invtied to meet at 10 a.m. on the beach in front of Parking Lot 1, just after the gate entrance while driving down Highway 12.

You can follow Alex’s progress on his website, lakewinnipegcircumnavigation.com, and on the Lake Winnipeg Circumnavigation...

Update: Alex successfully launched from Grand Beach on June 27 and is map tracking his progress. See where he is by clicking here.
