Advocacy & Action for Lake Winnipeg: An Evening with Alexis Kanu

Join us in Victoria Beach on Thursday, July 27, to learn how the Lake Winnipeg Community-Based Monitoring Network is pointing the way towards solutions for Lake Winnipeg.

Presented by the Victoria Beach & District Walk for Water Committee, this evening event will feature a presentation by LWF Executive Director Alexis Kanu followed by a Q&A. Plus, make sure to stop by our outreach table to pick up information you can use to advocate for the lake!

When: Thursday, July 27, 2023, at 7 p.m. (Doors open at 6:30 p.m.)
Where: East Beaches Social Scene, 3 Ateah Rd in Victoria Beach. Note: this venue has free parking.

Everyone is welcome and no ticket is required; coffee and tea will be provided following the presentation.

Coordinated by LWF, the Lake Winnipeg Community-Based Monitoring Network (LWCBMN) mobilizes volunteer citizen scientists and watershed district partners across Manitoba to collect water samples in order to identify phosphorus hotspots – localized areas that contribute higher amounts of phosphorus to waterways than other areas.

LWCBMN is generating the data needed to inform policy, direct research and focus action where it will have the greatest impact, and has been nationally recognized for its ability to successfully engage in cost-effective, scientifically robust water stewardship.

Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from Alexis and consider your role in promoting the health of Lake Winnipeg!
