Summer has arrived! We've got lots of events and initiatives planned, and we look forward to connecting in person with as many lake-lovers as we can over the coming weeks. Make sure to check out our online calendar to see when we’ll be in a community near you!
Local beer for local water
We’re celebrating local breweries and local lakes – two ingredients for a great Manitoba summer! Our series kicked off on June 28 with the launch of Big Water, a limited-edition, lake-themed gose created by our friends at Barn Hammer Brewing Company.
Big Water will be available while supplies last for the month of July. Get it by the pint or bottle at Barn Hammer’s taproom (595 Wall St.), and by the bottle at select Liquor Marts throughout Winnipeg and in Gimli. (Click here for a full list of locations.) Even more exciting? Barn Hammer will be donating $1 from the sale of each bottle to LWF. Giving has never been so refreshing!
LWF’s summer beer series will continue in August and September with limited-edition, lake-themed beers created by local craft breweries One Great City and PEG Beer Co. Stay tuned!
Walk for Water 2017
Take action as a citizen of our shared watershed and join hundreds of other lake-lovers for the largest grassroots fundraising event in support of a healthy Lake Winnipeg.
Walk for Water supports evidence-based solutions for our shared waters: funding projects; training citizen scientists; advocating governments; educating students and community groups; and using the Lake Winnipeg Health Plan to address the root causes of harmful algae blooms.
Participating is easy: Use the Walk for Water pledge form to collect donations from friends, family, co-workers, teammates and other lake-lovers in your like. (LWF provides charitable receipts for donations of $20 or more.) Then, join us at one our events for some fresh air and exercise – plus, you’ll receive a T-shirt and have the chance to win prizes!

Lake Winnipeg Memories
Join us in Albert Beach as we celebrate cottage life with a vintage photo exhibit curated by you!
Launching on July 3, Lake Winnipeg Memories is your chance to showcase your family’s unique relationship with Lake Winnipeg. To take part, simply scan your favourite family snaps and vintage photos, then email them along with a story, to events@lakewinnipegfoundations.org. (You can also share your photos on social media using the hashtag #lakewpgmemories.)
We’ll print your shots and add them to our gallery at The Beach Exchange, located across from Saffies General Store. This interactive exhibit will run until August 19 – stop by to sign the guest book, leave your mark on our Lake Winnipeg map, or take a photo in our beach-themed photo booth.
