A musical collaboration and last-minute gift ideas

Dear LWF supporter,

Thank you for your support over the past year. As our network grows, so too does our ability to speak out for the health of Lake Winnipeg. We look forward to accomplishing even more together in the new year!

Classic Lake Winnipeg folk songs get a musical makeover

We’re excited to announce a creative new fundraiser for LWF!

Love, Lake Winnipeg: A tribute to the songs of Sol Sigurdson is a collaborative project featuring select tracks from Riverton singer-songwriter Sol Sigurdson’s 1970 cult classic, The Lake Winnipeg Fisherman, reimagined by contemporary Manitoba musicians DJ Co-op, Mise en Scene, Scott Nolan and John K. Samson, and Jess Reimer.

Produced by John K. Samson, former frontman of acclaimed Winnipeg band The Weakerthans, this limited-edition four-song EP will be released on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016, at an exclusive benefit concert in Winnipeg at the West End Cultural Centre (WECC). As an expression of our thanks – and in celebration of LWF’s 10-year anniversary – all audience members in attendance will receive free copies!

Concert tickets are on sale now, available through the West End Cultural Centre’s box office and LWF.

Giving Tuesday 2015: an update

Thank you to everyone who joined the global giving movement on Dec. 1!

Because of the enthusiasm of LWF members and supporters who helped spread the word about Giving Tuesday 2015 and/or donated to our campaign via our special online donation page or through other channels, we came within $200 of our $2,000 goal! We truly appreciate your generosity.

Season’s greetings

LWF’s office will close for the holidays on Dec. 24 at noon. We will reopen on Jan. 4, 2016.

Wishing you a wonderful holiday season and a happy new year,

The LWF team
