Final two Water Wednesdays - tomorrow and Oct. 19

Dear LWF supporter,

Presented by Desjardins Financial Security Inc., our three-part Water Wednesdays series is bringing together local experts for some lively conversations about water.

Our first event took place Oct. 5 with special guests Richard Cloutier and Mary Agnes Welch. Thanks to everyone who joined us for what turned out to be a very interesting discussion about the role of media, public perception of water issues and civic engagement with decision makers.

Two events remain, both taking place from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Qualico Family Centre in Winnipeg’s Assiniboine Park (the building beside the duck pond).

Oct. 12 (that’s tomorrow!) with special guests:

  • Gordon Goldsborough, Chair of the Manitoba Water Council, professor at the University of Manitoba (Department of Biological Sciences)
  • Matthew McCandless, Executive Director of IISD Experimental Lakes Area
  • Paul Vogt, President, Red River College, former Manitoba Cabinet Secretary

What’s the biggest obstacle to improving Manitoba’s water quality? Where should we start? How can we move forward if we disagree?

Oct. 19 with special guests:

  • Gordon Bluesky, Lands Manager with Brokenhead Ojibway Nation, south basin representative for the Lake Winnipeg Indigenous Collective
  • Justin Reid, Manager, LaSalle Redboine Conservation District
  • Loren Remillard, President and CEO, The Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce
  • Francesco Zurzolo, Water and wastewater treatment systems designer, SNC-Lavalin Inc.

Where are the opportunities for on-the-ground solutions? What does meaningful collaboration look like? How can we measure return on investment?

Head to our website for more details. Hope to see you at one (or both) of our remaining events – and don’t forget to tell all your friends!

Thank you for your continued support,

The LWF team
