Commissioned by LWF, Tom’s report underscores the incredible economic value our great lake brings to our province.

As the summer draws to a close, so does our Lake Winnipeg Memories Gallery in Albert Beach. Join us for our closing gala evening, Bow Ties and Board Shorts, and help us close out the space with food, drinks and one last walk down memory lane!

 

On Aug. 27 we’ll be meeting at Saffies General Store to clean up the Albert Beach area! Join us at 1 p.m. to help create a pollution-free community!

Gloves, garbage pickers, bags and snacks will be provided. Hope to see you there!

Now an annual event, Beats on the Beach 2017 is just around the corner! Join with other lake-lovers at Saffies General Store in Albert Beach on Friday. Aug. 12 and be entertained by a free concert featuring muisc from Fever Rose, Jordan Yarish, and Mama G and the Majors. Don’t forget to treat your sweet tooth, as well, with Saffies tempting dessert auction. Delicious pies, cakes, cookies and homemade jams will be up for bid - with all money raised donated to the Lake Winnipeg Foundation!

Everyone’s favourite instructor Zumba Jan is hosting an outdoor class at Gimli Harbour on Saturday, Aug. 19 from 9 to 10 a.m. Even better? All proceeds* raised are being donated to LWF!

Celebrate Lake Winnipeg at our newest summer fundraising event!

Lake Bash 2017 takes place on Friday, Aug. 18 at Farmers Hall, a recently restored community dance hall just outside town. This not-to-be-missed evening event will feature:

  • Delicious Lake Winnipeg pickerel and all the fixings from our friends at The Pickerel Rig
  • Live music from country rocker Leanne Pearson (performing a special acoustic set), grandfather-grandson guitar-and-fiddle duo Peter & Keenan Karish, and the Vezina Family Band, a multi-generational, old-time country band from Stoney Point, Manitoba 
  • A cash bar...

Join us in Grand Marais for an afternoon of lake-friendly learning and outdoor family fun!

  • Special guests Jodi Goerzen, Manager of the Seine-Rat River Conservation District and LWF’s CBM Co-ordinator Chelsea Lobson will be sharing details about our community-based monitoring (CBM) network – learn how citizens across Manitoba are taking action for water and how you can get involved.
  • The Heal the Lake Kids are back with some lake-themed activities – plus, we’ll have outdoor games and an inflatable bouncer!
