Dear LWF supporter,

As we dive into lake season, we’d like to thank you for supporting a healthy Lake Winnipeg. This year, your support is as important as ever.

Get involved this summer …for Lake Winnipeg!

For years, LWF’s summer events have connected communities and generated vital funds to protect our lake. This year, we’re encouraging you to support a healthy Lake Winnipeg with your favourite summer activity! Visit the …for Lake Winnipeg campaign page to see what people are up to or to make a direct donation to our summer fundraising campaign.

Choose an activity

Use your skills, talents or hobbies to support healthy water. You can choose a fitness challenge, a bake sale, a community litter cleanup — the possibilities are as limitless as your imagination! Looking for more ideas? Check out our event ideas page.

Collect donations

Ask your friends, family and co-workers to support you with a donation. Get started at lakewinnipegfoundation.org/forlakewinnipeg2020

Protect the lake

Our summer campaign runs until Aug. 31, 2020. All the money raised from your activity will help address the root causes of harmful algae blooms in Lake Winnipeg.

Share your story

Don’t forget to tell your friends about your achievement, use #forlakewinnipeg and tag us in your social media posts — we want to see what you’re doing this summer on, in and around the lake!

Event idea spotlight: e-waste roundup

Keep end-of-life materials out of the landfill while supporting a healthy Lake Winnipeg! Many cities have depots to drop off materials like batteries, paint, electronics, and even the kitchen sink! In Winnipeg, there are three locations to take items to be recycled, reused, composted or resold — and, it’s free to do so. Ask your friends, family and neighbours for a donation to LWF, then collect their old microwaves, household cleaners and more. Learn about recycling beyond the blue bin on our website.

Did you know that rain and surface runoff can cause chemicals from landfills to leach into groundwater? Groundwater can carry those chemicals from the landfill to our lake. By organizing an e-waste roundup fundraiser, you’ll be supporting a healthy Lake Winnipeg in more ways than one!

Thank you for your continued support. We hope you are staying safe and healthy, and we look forward to seeing you at the lake again soon!
