Adapting to COVID-19: An update from the Lake Winnipeg Foundation

The COVID-19 pandemic is an unexpected, unprecedented situation. In response, LWF is closely monitoring public health information and adapting our activities as needed. We remain steadfastly committed to our mission to advocate for change and coordinate action to improve the health of Lake Winnipeg.

We will share regular updates on our website and through social media. Here are some of the steps we are currently taking to protect the health of our staff, our supporters and our community:

  • Our Winnipeg office is closed until further notice and all staff are now working remotely.
  • Our annual general meeting has been postponed until Wednesday, June 3, and will be held online. Details about this meeting – including our 2019 annual report and other materials – is available on our AGM 2020 information page.
  • The Lake Winnipeg Community-Based Monitoring Network has adapted its 2020 sampling protocols to protect volunteers and comply with all public health recommendations.
  • Our 2020 summer event season looks different. In-person Walk for Water events will not happen. Instead, we’re encouraging you to support a healthy Lake Winnipeg with your favourite summer activity! Check out what's new ...for Lake Winnipeg.

Please consider renewing your membership or donating online, as you are able. Donations can be made easily and securely through CanadaHelps.org.

If you have any questions, need assistance with the online donation process, or want to ensure that we have your current contact information (including email), please contact us. We’re happy to help!

Above all else, we’d like to thank you. For 15 years, driven by your support, LWF has led the charge for freshwater stewardship, translating science into solutions for the health of our lake. As always, your ongoing support and commitment enable this important work to continue. Thank you for being part of our community. Together, we are a passionate, tenacious and resilient group. These traits will serve us well in the months to come.

We can’t wait to see you at the lake again soon.
