Dear LWF supporter,
Extra! Extra!
The Spring & Summer 2016 edition of our newsletter, The Watershed Observer, is out! In this issue, you’ll find a feature on a new watershed map made possible through LWF’s grants program, an interview with Canadian water advocate Maude Barlow and information on how you can get involved in our 2016 Lake-a-thon season.
K.Barteski x LWF
We’re thrilled to be partnering with local artist Kal Barteski on our newest fundraiser!
Designed exclusively for LWF and created with help from Huron Woodwork, these unique #kbscript art pieces are perfect for hanging on your wall, or displaying on your mantle or bookshelf. (They also make great gifts.)
All proceeds from every sale support our ongoing work. You can purchase your pieces through our website or by contacting us at our Winnipeg office. We’ll also have them with us at outreach events this summer.
Mark your calendars for Walk for Water 2016
LWF’s Walk for Water is the largest grassroots fundraising event in support of a healthy Lake Winnipeg. Taking place in several lakeside communities, it’s a great way to be a part of the solution — and a fun way to spend a day at the lake!
Confirmed 2016 walk locations include Dunnottar (July 24), Gimli (Aug. 7) and Victoria Beach (Aug. 7). Participating is easy – simply collect pledges, then bring the money you raise to one of our events and join us as we walk together for the health our shared waters. All Walk for Water 2016 participants will receive a free LWF t-shirt – and the chance to win prizes!
Head to our website for more details and to download a printable pledge form.
No event in your community? Consider organizing your own Walk for Water; we’re happy to help with logistical and promotional support. Want to get involved as a 2016 volunteer? Contact us for more details about you can get involved!
We hope to see you at the lake this summer!
